If you’re looking for a place to enjoy some modern and creative Chinese cuisine, you might want to check out Way Modern Chinois in Bukit Damansara. This restaurant is famous for its dim sum, but it also offers a variety of other dishes that are sure to impress. Here are some of the highlights of my recent visit to Way Modern Chinois.
Starting off with the appetizers, the Scallop Cake is a must-try. This appetizer was one of my favourites. The scallop cakes were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and they paired well with the fresh apple slices. The contrast between the savoury scallop and the sweet apple was amazing.
Additionally, the Truffle Crab Soup Dumpling is another delicious appetizer option. This was another appetizer that blew me away. The dumplings were filled with a generous amount of crab meat and broth, and they had a hint of truffle aroma that elevated the dish. The wrapper was thin and delicate, and the dumpling was bursting with flavour.
Moving on to the main dishes, the Pumpkin Seafood Soup is a standout option. This soup was a comforting and satisfying main dish. The soup was thick and creamy, and it had a lot of seafood ingredients such as prawns, fish balls, and squid. The pumpkin added a natural sweetness to the soup, and the seafood added a savoury depth.
Cod Fish with Nyonya Belacan. This dish was a seafood lover’s dream. The cod fish was steamed to perfection, and it was moist and flaky. The soy sauce and nyonya belacan added a lot of flavour to the fish, and they complemented each other well. The nyonya belacan was spicy and tangy, and it gave the dish a kick.
Another standout main dish is the Hong Kong “Nai Bai” in Superior Broth. This dish was a simple but satisfying main dish. The bak choy was cooked in a premium chicken soup, and it was tender and juicy. The soup was clear and light, but it had a lot of flavour from the chicken. This dish was a great way to enjoy some greens.
One of the most impressive dishes at Way Modern Chinois is the Salted Egg Squid. This dish was one of the most impressive dishes at Way Modern Chinois. The squid was fried to a golden crisp, and it was coated in a salted egg sauce that was rich and creamy. The salted egg gave the squid a unique and addictive flavour that made me want more.
Last but not least, the Cantonese sponge cake (Ma lai gao) is a must-try dessert. This dessert was the perfect way to end the meal. The sponge cake was soft and fluffy, and it had a nice, caramelised crust on top. The cake was not too sweet, and it had a subtle fragrance from the eggs. It was one of the best sponge cakes I’ve ever had.
Way Modern Chinois is a restaurant that offers contemporary Chinese cuisine with a twist. The dishes are innovative and delicious, and they showcase the quality of the ingredients. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy some dim sum or some hearty main dishes, you should give Way Modern Chinois a try.
