My friends and I went to Mercat Barcelona Gastrobar, situated in Mont Kiara, to indulge in their famous tapas that put a contemporary spin on traditional Spanish dishes.
We started with the Ensalada Mercat, which was a refreshing mix of Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, boiled egg, potatoes, roasted pepper, and olives. It was a perfect starter to whet our appetite.
Next, we enjoyed the Patatas Bravas, crispy potatoes smothered in a spicy tomato and all-i-oli sauce. The heat was just right, and the sauce was delicious, making it a perfect accompaniment to our wine.
The Croqueta Casera de Pollo, homemade chicken croquettes, were crispy on the outside and had a creamy filling on the inside, making them a crowd favourite at our table.
We then tried the Pincho Moruno, marinated chicken skewers, which were perfectly grilled with well-balanced spices.
Moving on to the Fardos Ibéricos con Aroma de Trufa, fardos of Ibérico ham with truffle, the truffle aroma was divine, and the ham was melt-in-your-mouth tender, making it a luxurious treat.
The Boquerones Fritos, fried Spanish fresh boquerones, were a new experience for us, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a unique flavour.
Finally, we savoured the Gambas al Ajillo, shrimps sautéed in olive oil, garlic, and chili. The shrimps were perfectly cooked, and the garlic and chili added a delicious depth of flavour.
For dessert, we enjoyed the Spanish Churros Plain with chocolate, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the chocolate sauce was rich and decadent.
Overall, our experience at Mercat Barcelona Gastrobar was delightful. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was cosy and welcoming. If you’re looking for a relaxing night out with some amazing tapas and wine, Mercat Barcelona Gastrobar is worth a visit.
