A Fusion Delight: Exploring Mr Chew’s Chino Latino Bar

by KH

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a fusion of Asian and Latin flavours, you can’t go wrong with Mr Chew’s Chino Latino Bar. This restaurant is located at The Troika, a stunning skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur, and offers a spectacular view of the city skyline. The interior is modern and chic, with colourful artworks and quirky decor.

Mr Chew’s Chino Latino Bar serves a variety of dishes that combine elements from different cuisines, such as Korean, Japanese, Mexican, and Peruvian. Here are the set menu that we tried:

Salmon Ceviche: This dish was light and refreshing, with tender slices of salmon marinated in a warm ginger and garlic soy dressing. It was topped with frisée leaves, sesame seeds, and yuzu pearls that burst in your mouth with a tangy citrus flavour.

Korean Duck Fajitas: This dish was hearty and satisfying, with crispy duck leg confit wrapped in thin pancakes. It came with cucumber, fresh herbs, and gochujang mayo for some spice and creaminess.

Nori Taco: This dish was fun and creative, with nori seaweed shells filled with sushi rice and salmon belly. It was drizzled with tobiko mayo and ikura roe for some extra texture and saltiness.

Spring Roll: This dish was crunchy and delicious, with fried barramundi spring rolls stuffed with thin noodles. It was served with a chilli lime dip that added some zing and freshness.

Dumpling: This dish was savoury and flavourful, with pot stickers of chicken and jalapeno. It was garnished with hazelnut, coriander salsa, and pickled ginger for some nuttiness, herbiness, and acidity.

Barramundi: This dish was tender and juicy, with pan seared fish fillet in a spicy tamarind sauce. It was accompanied by coconut cream, pineapple and avocado salsa for some sweetness and creaminess.

Heart of Cabbage: This dish was simple and healthy, with baby Hongkong kailan steamed in a sweet ginger sauce. It was sprinkled with aromatic black bean crisps for some crunch and umami.

Chrysanthemum Ice: This dish was refreshing and elegant, with shaved chrysanthemum ice in an osmanthus syrup. It was decorated with lime and mint jelly, and rose shard for some colour and fragrance.

Mr Chew’s Chino Latino Bar is one of the most exciting restaurants to eat at in Kuala Lumpur. The food is inventive and delicious, the service is friendly and attentive, and the ambiance is lively and stylish. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves to try new flavours and have a good time.
